Blaine Rothauser is a Senior Ecologist with the nationally recognized Environmental Consulting firm GZA, GeoEnvironmental. With over 35 years of experience as a rare species biologist, Blaine uses his camera as an instrument to convey the extraordinary natural world of what he claims is, “the most biologically diverse state in the nation – New Jersey”.

Born and raised in the Garden State, Blaine has never left and will never leave the state that has provided him with a never-ending source of nature bearing gifts. As a professional lecturer of a wide range of natural history topics in his life-long pursuit to raise awareness of the need to protect New Jersey’s last remaining wild places he uses his skills as a natural scientist and photographer to promote its stewardship.

He is a Ted-talk presenter, employing his imagery to convey the message of our misuse of open spaces, which you can view here.

His natural history photography has graced the pages of magazines, calendars, corporate websites, exhibits and books that focus on New Jersey’s incredible natural diversity. His images bring forth the visual importance of biodiversity and the beauty of natural systems and their importance in our everyday lives.
