This section is a collection of Blaine’s LinkedIn Posts that come out anew each Monday morning. These posts represent a large cross section of species-specific expose’s that provide the reader with a better understanding of the magnificent array of biodiversity that grace the “Garden State”. From the rolling mountains of the Appalachia in Sussex and Warren counties, to the scenic rocky plateaus of the Highlands to the bottom wood swamps of the states central Piedmont Plains, to our barrier islands along the coast, and of course that wonderful Biosphere Reserve we call the New Jersey Pinelands - the state is blessed with an endless array of geology that predicates an incredibly rich flora and fauna.
It is my hope that the reader of these natural vignettes will be galvanized to go visit the Great Swamp in North Central New Jersey or Sandy Hooks maritime forests along our varied coast, or take a drive down old mine road in Peter’s Valley, apart of the Ridge and Valley Geophysiographic Zone. Or, maybe, even grab a kayak and cut through a majestic Atlantic White Cedar bog along the mighty Wading River in the southern pines!
I’ve always claimed that New Jersey is the most biologically rich state in our nation - but “sssshhhhhh, don’t tell anyone”. More for us to explore and enjoy.
