Blue Jays

Blue Jays never get old! Smart, family oriented, familiar, and gorgeous. If you were visiting the states from another country for the first time and saw this bird it would be a jaw dropping experience for most nature enthusiasts. Obviously, we take them for granted. But if you like watching animal behavior it's the bird for you. Just yesterday I watched a small family group dive bombing a red-tail hawk three times its size until the hawk tapped-out and flew out of dodge - one of many observations of a bird that is always thinking. No wonder it finds itself in one of the most sentient groups birds - the Corvids - which include crows and magpies.
