Otters

Otters -never met one I didn't like. This past weekend during my "brook watch" (Troy Brook - Wildlife Preserve Property - Parsippany, NJ) two otters were booking down the centerline of the waterway. Since otters are solitary for most of the year except for a brief period in late winter/early spring when they form mating bonds, and the fact the young of the year stick together past their first winter, I'll assume this was a sibling pair from last year. The cool thing was when one of them heard my Canon R5 rattle-off 20 frames in a second it looked directly at me on the bank of the stream; at which point he or she proceeded to berate me with a series of loud chirps - eyes locked on to mine. This scolding lasted a good twenty seconds before disappearing under water, not to be seen again.
